Staying grounded & balanced.
How do we stay anchored in unsettling times like we’re experiencing right now?
Essential oils are a wonderful wellness strategy and support for our wellbeing. Grounding blends are one of my go-to oils - they strengthen our connection to the earth, helping us to stay present, stable & connected. They also connect us to our inner strength so we can achieve our goals & manifest our vision - with the patience of a tree.
There is a lot going on at the moment, worldwide and in Australia – of course, we need to stay informed & realistic, yet it is equally important to stay calm, clear & sensible by focusing on what we can influence such as:
- Strengthen & boost our immune system
- Focus on our nutrition & healthy food intake (and keeping hydrated)
- Build up our gut health & microbiome (linked to immunity & respiratory health - for more info refer to the insightful video by Dr Peter Dingle I shared on my FB page)
- Implement good & diligent (hand) hygiene protocols
- Adhere to the recommended social distancing guidelines (especially if you are >70 years of age and/or your immune system is compromised).
In my view, now more than ever it is vital for us to be conscious of regular grounding, breathing & mindful practices to help us:
- Stay balanced & strong in our centre
- Cultivate a sense of calm & peace – emotionally, mentally & physically
- Turn on our relaxation response & tune into our breath
- Maintain physical & energetic boundaries
- Nurture an abundant & positive mindset
- Reinvigorate our sense of self-care
- Instil trust, faith & compassion.
When we are grounded, it is a lot easier to deal with anxious thoughts, panic or worry and stay aware of survival emotions, rather than becoming and getting overwhelmed by them.
In essence, your body, brain & survival systems are doing their job i.e. they want to keep you safe and protect you. It is up to you to recognise, acknowledge and understand these signals so you can objectively and rationally evaluate – am I in true danger right now? If you aren’t, give thanks to your body for bringing them up and let them go.
You could say something like “Thank you for trying to keep me safe & protected and bringing this <> to my attention, I’m okay right now and I can handle it.” Take a big breath and release. It may sound simple, yet it is powerful, give it a try - my clients tell me this technique works really well for them.
